The Brightstar Group supports Mental Health Awareness Week with a range of community focused activities

The Brightstar Group will be marking and supporting Mental Health Awareness Week between 12th and 18th May, continuing to raise awareness and encourage openness across the business around the issue of mental health.  

The Mental Health Foundation has hosted Mental Health Awareness Week in the second week of May since 2000. In previous years the week has focused on how anxiety, loneliness, sleep deprivation and movement can impact our mental health. In 2025 the theme will be ‘Community’ and therefore focuses on the power and importance of community.

The Mental Health Foundation says, “Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense of purpose.”

Aligned perfectly with its recently launched ESG report and its goals for 2025, the Brightstar Group has a week of events planned to raise awareness, get people thinking, working together and contributing to the local community. There will be a week of organised activities for staff to participate in which include pebble painting and community walks led by the Mental Health First Aid Team, as well as a fabulous whole Group Quiz to round off the week.

There will also be the launch of the Brightstar Group Community Action Project, which invites all team members to sign up for a community project during one day of the working year. Everyone will be able to help with a variety of projects including those associated with the elderly, animal sanctuaries, charity shops, food banks and local schools. The team can also look forward to a ‘mentally healthy’ breakfast and will all be participating in the ‘Wear it Green’ day to show support for mental health.

The Brightstar Group’s Mental Health First Team will be leading the week, which includes Clare Jupp, Group Chief People Officer.

Clare commented:  “Mental health issues create separations within society which compound the feelings of those who suffer as being different and feeling helpless and lonely. Without appropriate help, mental health issues can destroy people’s lives. At the Brightstar Group, we continue to build awareness about mental health issues and to offer support if needed. We have also created an environment where our team feel comfortable to say if they are experiencing problems and to destigmatize mental health as a whole. This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week will help us all to focus on the importance of our community and how we can help others in a multitude of ways. The concept of ‘giving back’ is powerful; both for those who receive and for those who lend their support and time.”
